PHILADELPHIA -The Penn men's golf team competes in its second tournament in less than a week, participating in the Princeton Invitational this Saturday and Sunday at the par-71, 6,390-yard Springdale GC in Princeton. The 15-team, 54-hole event will feature two rounds on Saturday and one on Sunday.
Of the eight Ivy League programs, only Brown will not be in attendance at Princeton.
The Quakers' lineup will feature senior Chance Pipitone, junior Ross Merrill, sophomores Scotty Williams and Dillon Hakes, and freshman Colin St. Maxens. St. Maxens has been Penn's low scorer this year, averaging 73.5 strokes per round, while Pipitone is averaging 74.4 and Williams is at 75.4. Merrillhas a77.0 stroke averagefor the year, but has gone 73-76-74 in his last three rounds.
On Monday, the Quakers finished second out of 11 teams at the Rehoboth Beach Spring Invitational. Pipitone and St. Maxens tied for fourth overall and led the team, while Williams and Merrill tied for 12th -- Merrill played the event as an individual and not part of Penn's lineup -- and Hakes tied for 33rd as an individual.
Princeton is the first of three straight weekends that Penn will play; the third weekend, of course, is the Ivy League Championships which will be played at the famed Baltusrol course in northern New Jersey.
