Men's Golf Completes First Day at NCAA Regional

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - The University of Pennsylvania men's golf team shot 322 as a team on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Noblesville Regional, which is being played on the par-72 Sagamore Golf Club.

Colorado is in first place in the regional, shooting 277 as a team to put the Buffaloes eight strokes ahead of Illinois and SMU. New Mexico State and Virginia Tech are the teams just ahead of Penn, as both the Aggies and the Hokies shot 309 on Thursday.

Ben Cooley was Penn's low scorer on Thursday; the senior carded a 4-over-par 76 and is tied for 41st out of 74 golfers in the field. Austin Powell shot a 78 on Thursday and is tied for 53rd overall.

Patrick O'Leary carded an 81 on Thursday and is tied for 60th in the field. Dane Walton and Amay Poria shot 87 and 89, respectively, and are 73rd and 74th overall.

Three golfers are tied at the top of the leaderboard after shooting 68 on Thursday, with three other golfers at 69. The 68s were turned in by SMU's Benjamin Baxter as well as David Oraee and Jeremy Paul from Colorado.

Penn will play with Virginia Tech and the five individuals in the field on Friday morning, teeing off on the No. 10 hole. Poria is slated to tee off at 9:50 a.m., followed by Walton at 10:01; O'Leary at 10:12; Powell at 10:23; and Cooley at 10:34.
