Men's Golf Heading to Indiana For NCAA Regional

PHILADELPHIA - The NCAA has announced the fields for its six regionals leading up to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships at the end of the month, and Penn learned Monday morning that it will play next week in Noblesville, Ind.

Penn will be the 14th seed in the regional that is being hosted by Ball State University at Sagamore Golf Club. The regional will take place May 14-16. The Sagamore Club was designed by Jack Nicklaus and plays at par-72; for championship events it plays at 6,750 yards with a slope of 135 and a 73 rating.

Penn earned a spot in the regional field by winning the Ivy League Championships team title on April 26. The Quakers' lineup at Ivies included seniors Austin Powell and Ben Cooley; junior Patrick O'Leary; sophomore Dane Walton; and freshman Amay Poria.

The other teams in Penn's regional are listed in order of seeding. They are Illinois, Oregon, UCLA, Alabama, SMU, UNLV, Virginia Tech, Georgia Southern, Colorado, New Mexico State, East Carolina, Marquette, and Alabama State. Penn is one of six conference champions in their field, and fourth-seeded Alabama is the two-time defending NCAA champion.

The low five teams from each regional, as well as the low individual not from those five teams, will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships which will take place May 29-June 3 at The Concession Club in Bradenton, Fla.
