Men's Golf in Big 5 Invitational This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - After nearly two full weeks away from tournament action, the Penn men's golf team stays close to home this weekend with its participation in the Big 5 Invitational. This annual event has moved for this year, from its traditional home at the Philadelphia Cricket Club to the Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa. Tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. both Saturday and Sunday.

"Plymouth is a shorter, tight course compared to the Cricket Club," said the Quakers' head coach, Scott Allen. "You need to think your way around. That said, I think we have a good game for the course, and I am looking forward to a strong showing."

We are looking forward to defending our city championship this week at the Big Five Invitational," he continued. "They have a strong field expected."

Penn will be joined by the other five Division I institutions in the city -- Drexel, La Salle, Saint Joseph's, Temple and Villanova. Fifteen other schools are involved, highlighted by Kentucky out of the Southeastern Conference. Of that 15, Ivy rivals Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton and Yale are all expected to make the trip to the Philadelphia area this weekend.

The Quakers' lineup will feature senior Kevin Huntington, junior Dillon Hakes, sophomore Colin St. Maxens, and freshmen Max Marsico from the last two tournaments. The newcomer to the lineup will be sophomore P.J. Fielding, who had the second-lowest score among Penn players at the Rehoboth Beach Fall Invitational on Sept. 27. Another sophomore, Philip Winter, will be in the tournament field playing as an individual.
