Men's Golf in Second After First Day of Big 5 Classic

FLOURTOWN, Pa. -The Penn men's golf team shot a combined 297, just five strokes off the pace set by Seton Hall on the first day of the Big 5 Classic hosted by Penn at the Philadelphia Cricket Club. Senior Dean Merrill shot an even par round of 71 to lead the Quakers. The score is good for a second place tie in the individual race.

Junior Bill McCrossan carded the next-best round for Penn, shooting a 73 to put him in a tie for seventh place. Junior Michael Blodgett shot a 76, while sophomore Chance Pipitone turned in a round of 77. Senior Michael Kornheiser carded an 80 for Day One at the tournament.

Play resumes tomorrow morning from the Philadelphia Cricket Club, where the tournament will conclude tomorrow afternoon.
