Men's Golf Opens Fall Season With 11th Place Showing at Navy Invite

Annapolis, Md. - The Penn men’s golf team began the 2004 season at the Navy Invitational at the USNA Golf Course in Annapolis and finished tied for 11th (St. Bonaventure) after the two-day tournament. The Quakers shot a 304 on day one and a 303 on day two to finish with a 607 (+39). Towson won the Invitational with a 584 (+16).

Junior Derek Rogers led the Red and Blue with a 10th place individual finish after shooting a four-over par 146. Rogers had rounds of 72 and 74 in his first tournament of the year. Sophomore Sean Barrett (78-77), freshman Dean Merrill (76-79) and senior Jeff Riley (81-74) were Penn’s next finishers as the trio each shot a 155 for a +13 which tied them for 55th.

The Quakers will return to action on Oct. 1 at the Temple Invitational in Moosic, Pa.
