REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - The Penn men's golf team finished second out of nine teams at the Rehoboth Beach Spring Invite, which the Quakers hosted at the par-71 Kings Creek Country Club.
In an event that was shortened to 18 holes due to inclement conditions, the Quakers shot 302 as a team to finish behind only Maryland (295). Bryant was third with 305, followed by Villanova (310), Binghamton (312) and Iona College (314).
Individually, senior Brett Rendina led the way for the Quakers and tied for individual medalist honors with Maryland's John Popeck -- both players shot 1-under par 70. Scotty Williams tied for 12th overall, shooting 76, while Bryant Williams and freshman Dillon Hakes both tied for 19th with 78 and Kevin Huntington tied for 24th with an 80.
Penn also had three players compete as individuals -- Sam Williams carded 76, Ross Merrill shot 80, and Billy McCrossan shot 83.
"All in all, this was a good result for us," said head coach Scott Allen.
Penn returns to action this weekend at the Princeton Invitational, which is scheduled for 54 holes this Saturday and Sunday.
