PHILADELPHIA - Coming off a disappointing performance at the Macdonald Cup last weekend, the Penn men's golf team gets right back on the tee this weekend. The Quakers will participate in the annual Big5 Invitational, a 36-hole event hosted once again this year by Temple at the Plymouth Country Club in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
The teams will play one round Saturday and another on Sunday. Plymouth CC is a par-70 course that plays at 6,610 yards.
Penn will roll out a lineup that includes P.J. Fielding, Scotty Williams, Max Marsico, Colin St. Maxens, and freshman Ben Cooley. St. Maxens tied for fifth in the field at this event last year. A sixth member of the team, sophomore Marco Fortades, will compete in the event as an individual.
Penn finished ninth overall at this tournament last year, and gave away the city's bragging rights to Villanova.
"We were disappointed with our showing at Yale, and we are looking forward to getting back on track this weekend at the Big 5," said Head Coach Scott Allen. "Plymouth CC is a challenging and tricky golf course that is not that different from Yale. It is not overly long, but you really have to think your way around the course. I like the guys in our lineup and how their game suits the course.I think we have a great chance of getting the Big Five Cup back from Villanova who took it from us last year."
