Men's Golf Seventh After Day One at GW

BETHANY BEACH, Del. - The Penn men's golf team is in seventh place after the first two rounds of the George Washington Invitational. The tournament concludes Saturday with a final 18 holes at the par-72 Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club.

Penn was consistent on Friday, shooting 297 in the first round and 300 in the second for a two-round 597. Missouri is well ahead of the field, carding 278-272--550 on Friday. Yale is second (277-296--573). Penn is just behind sixth-place George Washington (596) and well ahead of eighth-place Monmouth (608).

Senior Bryant Williams is Penn's low scorer through two rounds; he is tied for 17th out of 96 golfers overall after shooting 74-71--145. Younger brother Scotty Williams is tied for 21st overall (72-75--147), while Chance Pipitone is tied for 33rd (76-75--151). Juniors Kevin Huntington (75-79--154/t-46th) and Ross Merrill (76-81--157/t-53rd) rounded out Penn's lineup.

Dillon Hakes (72-80--152/t-40th) and Sam Williams (79-76--155/t-49th) are competing in the tournament as individuals.
