OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Penn men's golf team is certainly on a roll heading into this weekend's Ivy League Championships. The Quakers won the eight-team Caves Valley Intercollegiate this weekend; of the eight teams in the tournament, six were from the Ivy League.
Penn shot 313 on Saturday and 299 on Sunday to finish with a 612 team score on the par-72 Caves Valley course over the weekend, defeating second-place Princeton (617) by five strokes. Harvard and George Washington tied for third at 622, while tournament host Yale and Cornell tied for fifth with 625.
Penn also took home the individual hardware, as senior Chance Pipitone shot 74 and 73 to finish at 3-over-par 147. That was one stroke ahead of his teammate, sophomore Scotty Williams, who carded 78-70--148 to finish second overall.
Freshman Colin St. Maxens (77-76--153), junior Ross Merrill (84-80--164) and senior Bryant Williams (85-81--166) rounded out Penn's lineup this weekend.
The Ivy League Championships will take place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the famed Baltusrol course in northern New Jersey.
