WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -The University of Pennsylvania heavyweight rowing team ran four boats at the season-ending IRA Regatta National Championships this weekend on Lake Mercer, with three of them reaching the petite final in their division.
Both the Varsity 8+ and the Varsity 4+ ended up 11th on the weekend. The Varsity 8+ clocked 5:58.280 in the petite final as they finished 11th for the second-straight year. The Varsity 4+, meanwhile, improved three spots from last year by advancing to the petite final and then taking fifth in that race. Penn's time was 6:51.260 in the petite final.
The Second Varsity 8+ was 12th overall on the weekend, clocking 6:06.570 in Sunday's petite final.
Penn's Third Varsity 8+ was 14th overall, taking second place in the third final on Sunday. In that race, the Quakers' time of 6:11.830 was three seconds behind Oregon State which clocked 6:08.200.
