Men's Heavyweight Open Four Set for IRA Grand Final

PHILADELPHIA--After two days of competition, the Penn men's heavyweight open four crew remains in the running for the IRA title. Due to the extreme heat predictions for Saturday, the race schedule has beencompressed to avoid the peak heat. Visit for more information.

The open four will row in the fifth lane against Cal-Berkely, Princeton, Cornell and two boats from Harvard. The team finished second in its heat with a time of 6:57.925 andraced a time of 6:57.346 in the repachageto make the grand final set for 9:36 a.m.

Penn will also in theVarsity 8 3rd Level Final.The Red and Bluefinished in 6:05.358 in its heat followed with a 6:20.315 in the repachage. In thefourth semifinal the Quakers shaved 35 seconds off that time to finish at5:55.196. The crew will race in the 3rd Level Final at noon.

The freshman boat clocked a time of 6:19.890 in its heat and 6:23.503 in the repachage. The crew clocked its best time of the event at 6:10.566 in the semifinal but did not advance to the final.
