Men's Heavyweight Rowing Returns Home for Madeira Cup

PHILADELPHIA - After losing to Northeastern in the Burk Cup last Saturday, the University of Pennsylvania men’s heavyweight rowing team hosts Cornell in the Madeira Cup, presented by the Class of 1987, inits final cup race of the spring.

The History

Cornell has won the last five Madeira Cups, including a two-second win last year. Penn crossed the finish line at 5:55.9. The Quakers hold a commanding 34-16 lead in this race.

Last Time Out

Northeastern got revenge on the Quakers, who finished just 1.3 second ahead at the EARC Sprints, by crossing the finish line three seconds in front of Penn in the Burk Cup last Saturday. Penn finished at 5:57.1. In the Second Varsity 8, Northeastern beat Penn by exactly six seconds, coming in at 6:04.6 to the Quakers’ 6:10.6.
