Men's Lacrosse Tabbed 18th in Preseason Coaches Poll

Philadelphia – The University of Pennsylvania men’s lacrosse team is ranked 18th in the preseason coaches poll by 2005 Face-Off Yearbook and Inside Lacrosse. The Quakers who advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 15 years last season opens the 2005 campaign on March 5 at Villanova.

Penn is one of five Ivy League schools in the preseason top-25. Princeton is ranked third, followed by Cornell in ninth. Brown and Dartmouth round out the Ancient Eight teams in 19th and 23rd, respectively.

The Red and Blue face several other teams ranked in the top-25 throughout the season as well. Penn does battle at No. 24 Denver on March 13 at 1 p.m. (MST), then faces off with No. 17 Loyola on April 23 at 1 p.m. on Franklin Field and meets up with No. 5 Maryland at Lincoln Financial Field on May 7.

Johns Hopkins again landed the top spot, with Syracuse, Princeton, Navy and Maryland rounding out the top five. The poll was compiled from 56 coaches' surveys.
