Men's Lightweight Crew Challenges for Dodge Cup

PHILADELPHIA--The Penn men’s lightweight rowing team will compete in its second consecutive away race of the season. Competing for the Dodge Cup in New Haven, Conn., the Quakers will face boats from Columbia and Yale.

The History ...

The Dodge Cup was named after the late Marcellus Hartley Dodge, a member of the Columbia Class of 1903 and a former coxswain for the Lions. Penn has captured 15 cups while Columbia has won four cups and Yale, 30 cups.

Last Year ...

In their second of three consecutive home races, the Penn finished third to Yale and Columbia in the Varsity 8 on the Schuylkill River. The Bulldogs won all five races on the day. In the Varsity 8, Penn clocked at 5:59.4., nine seconds off the pace of first-place Yale who came in at 5:50.6. Columbia came in at 5:52.1. The Quakers came in second to Yale in the 2nd Freshmen 8 (6:22.8) and the 2nd Varsity 8 (6:21.8).Penn also competed in the 1st Freshman 8, where they finished third at 6:00.8. Yale took the race, clocking at 5:50.0.
