Men's Lightweight Rowing Falls to Princeton in Wood-Hammond Trophy

PHILADELPHIA – In their final home race of the spring, the University of Pennsylvania men’s lightweight rowing team lost to Princeton in the Wood-Hammond Trophy. Penn’s only first-place finish came in the second freshman 4.

In the varsity 8, Georgetown won the race, clocking at 5:35.2. The Hoyas do not compete for the trophy so Princeton took the trophy for the second consecutive year, coming in at 5:37.4 The Quakers crossed the finish line at 5:43.0.

Penn’s first freshman 8 came in second, just two seconds behind the Tigers at 5:49.7. The second varsity 8 placed third at 6:05.3.

The Quakers lone win on the day came in the second freshman 4. The Quakers edged Georgetown by 11 seconds, finishing at 6:46.4.

Penn will take next weekend off, but return to action Sunday, May 6 when they travel to Annapolis, Md. to race Navy in the Callow Cup.
