Men's Lightweight Rowing Hosts Dodge Cup on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men’s lightweight rowing team remains home for its second of three straight races on the Schuylkill River this Saturday, hosting Columbia and Yale in the Dodge Cup.

The History

Yale leads the all-time series with 30 victories, followed by Penn (15) and Columbia (4). The Bulldogs have won the last three Dodge Cups, including last year when they clocked in at 5:51.0. Columbia placed second (5:53.5) followed by Penn (5:59.32).

Last Time Out

The varsity 8 finished third in the Matthews-Leonard Cup last Saturday, coming in at 5:59.4, behind winner Cornell (5:46.3) and Harvard (5:48.4). The second varsity finished third in 6:22.4, well behind Cornell’s pace of 5:49.7. The freshman 8 finished second in 6:06.9, behind Cornell’s 5:59.6. Harvard had finished in 6:00.4, but was disqualified for passing on the wrong side of the buoys at the course’s turn. The second freshman 8 came in third in 6:28.7.
