Men's Lightweights Compete at Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - The Penn men's lightweight rowing team had six boats compete in the annual Navy Day Regatta, which took place Saturday on the Schuylkill River. The Quakers had two fours and four eights on the day.

In the Men's College 4+, the Quakers finished ninth and 10th, respectively, out of 18 boats in the event. Penn's lightweight A boat clocked 15:33.00 on the 4,000-meter head course, with that time coming just ahead of the B boat which was timed at 15:33.30.

Penn also enteredtwoboats in the Lightweight College 8+ -- the A boat was timed at 13:36.60, fifth-best among nine boats in the event, while the Quakers' B boat clocked 14:36.30 to place eighth.

In the Frosh/Novice 8+, Penn ran one boat and finished sixth out of 17 boats in a time of 14:36.10.

Penn is back in action Sunday, heading to Boston for the prestigious Head of the Charles.
