Men's Rowing Opens Fall Season at Navy Day Regatta

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men’s heavyweight and lightweight rowing teams opened their fall competition at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River Saturday.

The Heavyweight Four had the fifth best time out of 19 crews coming in at 15:32.70. The heavyweight and lightweight team's raced two boats each in the College Eight. The heavyweight's best finish was fifth place (13:28.00). They finished just two seconds behind Temple. The other heavyweight crew finished 14th (14:29.60). Meanwhile, the lightweight took sixth (13:33.10) and 15th (14:33.60).

The Freshman/Novice Eight raced two boats - placing second at 14:49.00 and sixth at 15:10.10. The Lightweight Eight placed fourth (14:15.90) and fifth (14:23.70) respectively.

Next Saturday, Oct. 21, both teams head to Boston, Mass. for the Head of the Charles.
