Men's Soccer Earns Regional Ranking

PHILDELPHIA—The University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team debuted at tied for seventh in the 2006 NSCAA Northeast regional poll, Tuesday. The Quakers earned the ranking in the midst of a four-game winning streak and claiming the Penn Soccer Classic title, Sept. 17.

Penn (4-1) has been ranked nationally the past three seasons and has been a mainstay in the regional rankings. The Red and Blue share this week’s rank with Connecticut.

Last weekend at the Penn Soccer Classic, the Quakers defeated in-city foe Saint Joseph’s 4-0 and Duquesne 1-0. Sophomore Mike Klein scored two goals, including the match-winner, and an assist against Saint Joseph’s, Sept. 15 and was named the Ivy League Player of the Week and Philadelphia Soccer Seven Co-Player of the Week for his efforts.

Penn takes its ranking into Wednesday’s match at La Salle. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
