Men's Soccer Edges Dartmouth, 1-0

HANOVER, N.H. - The Penn men's soccer team scored a big win against DartmouthSaturday as senior Alex Grendi scored the game-winner in a 1-0 decision. The Quakers improved to 8-2-3 on the season and 2-1-0 in the Ivy League.

The Quakers came out fast against the Big Green and put up six shots, with all but one of them on goal. Dartmouth’s Sean Milligan saved four, but it was a long shot by senior Grendi that scored for Penn.

Scoring his second goal of the season, Grendi took a pass from Tobi Olopade and Kevin Unger to nail a shot into the upper corner at 32:31.

In the second half, Dartmouth (6-5-1, 1-1-1 Ivy) brought its attack to the Red and Blue. However, Penn keeper Drew Healy made seven of his nine saves in the second to secure his eighth shutout of the season. That mark ties for third on Penn’s all-time list in that category.

Rookie Jake Levin and the defense held strong and kept the Big Green’s big guns, Craig Henderson and Lucky Mkosana, off the board.

The Quakers are on the road again next weekend,facing Ivy foe Yale in New Haven, Conn. The game is set for 7 p.m.
