Men's Soccer Falls to La Salle, 3-2

PHILADELPHIA—The University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team led 2-1 at the half, but was unable to hang onto the lead as the Quakers fell to La Salle, 3-2 Wednesday night. Penn’s four-match winning streak was snapped and its record dropped to 4-2. The Explorers improved to 4-3-1.

In the 25th minute, senior Ryan Tracy got the Quakers on the board with a goal to the far corner. Sophomore MikeKlein and Alex Grendi were credited with assists.Less thanseven minutes later, senior Andy Howard scored with a header off a corner kick served byKlein to give the Quakers a 2-0 advantage.

The lead was narrowed just three minutes later when La Salle's Kevin Lydic notched a goal at 35:12.

The Explorersputthe tying goal away after halftime in the67th minute to tie the match. Jeremy Ortiz scored in the 80thminute to clinch the win and halt the Quakers.

Penn senior goalkeeper Daniel Cepero made three saves whileLa Salle's sophomore Dan Pfeiffer madetwo saves.

Penn will have two days off before opening its Ivy League slate at Rhodes Field against Harvard. Match time is set for 7 p.m. Last season, Harvard and Penn tied for fifth in the final league standings though the Crimson defeated the Quakers 3-2 in the final match of the regular season.
