PHILADELPHIA--The Penn men's soccer team will host its finalmatch of the 2007 season against Cornell andhonor its three seniors Saturday at Rhodes Field. The team's tri-captains, seniors Derek Hobson, Jeffrey Livingston and Keith Vereb, will be honored in a pre-game ceremony. The match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
The match is being sponsored by former Penn soccer captain and member of the Quakers' 1980 Ivy League championship team, Andrew J. Donnally, W'81.
The Quakers are looking to close out the season with a win after falling short in their last three outings. Most recently, Penn was on the wrong side of a 2-1 match with No. 15 Harvard. Hobson put the Quakers on the board late in the first half to make it 2-1 at the break, but that was the end of the day's scoring.
Meanwhile, Cornell found its first Ivy win last weekend, even if it did take extra minutes. The Big Red pocketed a 3-2 win over Columbia with just seconds remaining in the first overtime. Last season, Penn took a 1-0 victory on the road in Ithaca, N.Y. Junior Andrew Ferry scored the Penn goal, while Hobson and John Elicker were credited with assists.
The Quakers hold a hefty lead on the Big Red, with a 60-30-11 record in the all-time series.
