PHILADELPHIA--Soccer America has named No. 20 Penn as one of the hottest men’s soccer teams in the NCAA College Cup after the Quakers won the 2008 Ivy League title in dramatic fashion over the weekend.
The publication cited the heroics of sophomore Loukas Tasigianis’ overtime goal against Harvard and named the forward to their national team of the week.
With an 11-2-4 record this season, Penn has gone 4-0-1 in the last five games. There are only 12 other teams in the 48-team NCAA tournament that will bring an unbeaten streak to their first-round game. However, one of those teams is the Quakers’ competition, George Mason. The Patriots burst on the scene, winning their last seven games to capture the CAA title.
The teams will meet Friday at 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Va.
