Nov. 19, 2003

Philadelphia - The University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team has been selected as one of 71 teams to receive the NSCAA/adidas Team Academic Award. It is the fourth-consecutive year the Quakers have received the honor. As a team, the Quakers collectively boast a 3.14 GPA.

In combination with the women's soccer team, Penn was recognized as one of 48 schools to have both their men's and women's teams recognized. Additionally, the Quakers were one of 23 programs to have double recognition for consecutive seasons, as both teams have earned the award in each of the past three seasons.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) gives the Team Academic Award to collegiate teams that excel both in the classroom, with a team GPA of 3.0 or over, and on the field.

The Quakers finished the 2003 season with an overall record of 6-9-2 and a 2-5-0 mark in Ivy play.
