Men's Soccer to Face George Mason in NCAA First Round

PHILADELPHIA--The Penn men's soccer team gathered to watch the 2008 NCAA Tournament bracket selection show Monday. The 48-team field was announced on ESPNews and the Quakers drew George Mason, the Colonial Athletic, in the first round. The match is set to be played at George Mason Stadium on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.

This is the first NCAA selection for the Quakers since 2002 when the team defeated Seton Hall (1-0) in the first round before falling to Connecticut (4-0) in the second round. The Patriots last trip to the NCAA was in 2006 when they lost to Bucknell in the first round.

George Mason holds a 13-6-2 overall record andearned its postseason berth by winning the Colonial Athletic Association championship.

The winner of Friday's game will advance to the second round and face No. 2-seeded Maryland(18-3-0)on Tuesday, Nov. 25.
