Men's Squash Announces 2011-12 Schedule

Men's Squash Schedule

PHILADELPHIA - Coming off a fifth-place finish in the Ivy League and finishing the year as the tenth-ranked team in the nation, men's squash will looking to move up the rankings in the 2011-12 campaign. The Quakers will be at home for six of their 12 matches this season with a challenging schedule that includes seven matches against teams that finished in the top eight last year.

The season gets underway Nov. 12-13 when the Quakers head to Yale for the Ivy League Scrimmages. The season's first official competition will take Nov. 30 when Penn takes on Drexel, which has just added squash as an official varsity sport after playing at the club level in previous seasons.

Ivy League play will fast approach as Penn takes on Princeton in the first home match of the season on Dec. 3. After the Ivy opener, the Quakers will travel to Navy the following Wednesday for a mid-week non-conference match on Dec. 7. On Saturday, Dec. 10, Penn returns home against Williams in a rematch of the Quakers' 5-4 victory from a season ago.

After the match with Williams, the men's squad will have a month break from competition. After the break, Ivy League play resumes with matches against Harvard (Jan. 14) and Dartmouth (Jan. 15). The Quakers then return home Jan. 19 for a non-conference match against Franklin & Marshall. The final non-conference match of the season will be at Trinity on Jan. 29.

Getting back into Ivy League play, the men's team will then be at home for three straight Ivy matches. In the first weekend of February, Brown (Feb. 4) and Yale (Feb. 5) both come to the Ringe Squash courts. The following weekend, Columbia (Feb. 10) comes to Philadelphia before Penn finishes the regular season on the road at Cornell (Feb. 12).

The next weekend, the CSA team championships will be held from Feb. 17-19. Yale will be hosting the team championships. The season concludes with the CSA individual tournament the first weekend in March. Individual championships run from Mar. 2-4 and will be held at Amherst College.
