Men's Squash Blanks Amherst in First of Two Matches Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 4-ranked University of Pennsylvania men’s squash team remained perfect on the season by shutting out Amherst, 9-0, Saturday at Ringe Courts. With the win, Penn (5-0) picked up their fourth shut out of the season.

Seven of the Quakers' top nine players picked up 3-0 victories over the Jeffs (3-3). Senior Graham Bassett shut down Pete Hatfield at the No. 5 position, winning all three games by a 3-0 count. Both Spencer Kurn and Ben Ende won their matches 3-0, but had to take extra time to win. Kurn won a 10-8 decision in Game 3 at No. 3, while Ende won by the same score in his second game at No. 4.

Gilly Lane, Mark Froot, Ryan Rayfield, Joey Raho, Nick Malinowski, Samuel Peelle, Rahil Shah, Jamie Rufe and Rory Heilakka were also victorious for the Red and Blue.

Penn returns to the court this afternoon along with the women, hosting Williams at 4 p.m.
