Men's Squash Blanks Navy, 9-0

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The No. 6 Penn men's squash team dusted off its racquets after a five-week break to defeat No. 13 Navy, 9-0, at Halsey Field House Wednesday evening.

The Quakers (4-2) competed for the first time since Dec. 6, whilethe Midshipmen(10-2) dropped just its second match of the season.

Penn was led by by Lee Rosen's debut at No. 1 this season, where he won 3-0 (9-7, 9-3, 9-4), as well as Spencer Kurn's comeback 3-2 (9-2, 7-9, 9-10, 9-4, 9-6) victory over previously-undefeated Scott Hackman at No. 3.

"Overall, it was a good competitive match," said Head Coach Craig Thorpe-Clark. "Navy, as always, put up a good hard match."

Graham Bassett pushed his record to 6-0 with a 3-0 (9-2, 9-0, 9-7) win at No. 6, while Nick Malinowski won his collegiate debut at No. 7, 3-0 (9-2, 9-3, 9-5). Ben Ende improved to 4-1 this season with his 3-0 (9-2, 9-3, 9-3) win at No. 2, and co-captain Jacob Himmelrich was a 3-1 (9-1, 9-2, 3-9, 9-3) winner at No. 4.

Three freshmen - Andrew Zimmerman, Parker Justi, and Bobby Dickey - all posted 3-0 wins as well.

Penn returns to action with two matches in Massachusetts onSaturday, traveling first to Amherst at 11 a.m. and then to Williams for a 5 p.m. start.
