Men's Squash Concludes First Day of Individuals

Hanover, N.H. -- The University of Pennsylvania men's squash team competed at the College Squash Association Individual Championships at Dartmouth on Friday.

In the first round of play,Ben Ende fell to No. 5 seed Reggie Schonborn of Trinity, 3-0 (9-4, 9-4, 9-4). Rich Repetto, theNo. 15 seed, fell to No. 18 Eduardo Perreira of Trinity, 3-1 (7-9, 9-4, 9-5, 9-7) and Jacob Himmelrich fell tosecond-seeded JulianIllingworth of Yale, 3-0 (9-2, 9-0, 9-0).

Gilly Lane was the only Quaker to have a win in the championship bracket of the Pool Flight. The No. 12 seed, Lane defeated Nick Chirls of Yale, 3-0 (9-4, 9-2, 9-1) in the first round of play. He then fell to Schonborn, 3-2 (7-9, 7-9, 9-1, 9-3, 9-6), after winning the first two sets.

Said Head Coach Craig Thorpe-Clark, "Gilly put out a great effort. He had some opportunities to win. The match was a terrific display of sportsmanship."

In the consolation bracket, Repetto advanced to the semifinals with a first-round victory over Himmelrich, 3-0 (10-8, 9-6, 9-4).
