ANNAPOLIS, Md. - After more than a month of practices in between matches, the Penn men's squash team was eager to get back on the courts Saturday as they traveled to the Naval Academy and defeated the Midshipmen, 7-2. The win is the second in a row for the Quakers, who improve to 2-3 on the young season.
Penn got out to an early 2-1 lead when senior Ryan Rayfield cruised to a 3-0 victory from the No. 9 position and junior Joey Raho earned a 3-1 decision at No. 6. The Quakers then quickly packed the match away when No. 8 Parker Justi, No. 5 Porter Drake, and No. 2 Mark Froot all claimed victories to give Penn a commanding 5-1 lead heading into the final wave of matches. Justi took his match in three games, while Drake and Froot each pulled out 3-2 victories to secure the match for Penn.
Junior Andrew Zimmerman and freshman James Clark added 3-0 victories to close out the dominating performance by the Quakers.
Penn will next be in action on Saturday when they travel to face Williams and Amherst. They will take on Williams at 11 a.m. and Amherst at 5 p.m.
