Men's Squash Gears Up for Team Championships

PHILADELPHIA - Ranked ninth in the nation, the Penn men's squash team will compete in the Hoehn Cup Division this weekend at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships in New Haven, Conn. With the top seed in their bracket after finishing 5-7 in the regular season, the Quakers will take on No. 16 St. Lawrence in the first round Friday at 10 a.m. on Yale's campus.

This year there will be 62 teams participating in eight divisions at the Team Championships: Potter Cup (A Division), Hoehn Cup (B Division), Summers Cup (C Division), Conroy Cup (D Division), Chaffee Cup (E Division), Serues Cup (F Division), Hawthorn Cup (G Division), and the Emerging Teams Division.

In addition to St. Lawrence, the Naval Academy, Franklin and Marshall, Bates, Brown, Bowdoin, and Williams are also in Penn's division. In favor of the Quakers, Penn has already topped Navy (6-3), Brown (6-3), and Williams (5-4) this season.

Depending on the result of Friday's match, Penn will play either Navy or Franklin and Marshall on Saturday in the semifinals at noon or the consolation semis at 3 p.m. The championship match will take place noon Sunday.
