PHILADELPHIA The Penn men’s squash team will spend its last weekend as a full squad, when it travels to Princeton, N.J., for the Collegiate Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships this weekend. The Quakers will enter the tournament ranked seventh in the nation and will compete in the Potter Cup, which includes teams ranked in the CSA’s top-eight. The team to prevail in the Potter Cup will be named the 2009 national champions.
A seventh-place ranking will pit the Quakers against the tournament hosts, No. 2 Princeton in the first round on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The Quakers and the Tigers regular season meeting went in Princeton’s favor, 9-0, in New Jersey on Jan. 28 all matches were decided in three games.
The Red and Blue will have their work cutout for them as they have played every team in their division, but have only defeated one of them eighth-ranked Dartmouth in a close 5-4 decision during Penn’s last home match of the season. Depending on the outcome of tomorrow’s matches, Penn will either play No. 3 Harvard or No. 6 Rochester in the semifinals or first round of the losers brackets on Saturday.
