PHILADELPHIA – After finishing a great run to the CSA Potter Cup and finishing the season ranked eighth in the country, six individuals from the University of Pennsylvania men’s squash team will play in the College Squash Asscoiation (CSA) individual championships this weekend in Philadelphia.
All six players will be competing in the Molloy Cup division for players ranked 33-80 in the country. The representatives for the Quakers will be sophomore Tyler Odell (#40), sophomore Liam Quinn (#48), junior Michael Mutscheller (#49), sophomore Augie Frank (#59), freshman Rahil Fazelbhoy (#61) and freshman George Lemmon (#69).
Odell (1-14) and Quinn’s (2-13) individual records during the season don’t reflect the overall level of play displayed by the two. Thesophomore's drew the toughest matches for the team during the entire season, playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 positions on the ladder for Penn.
Mutscheller (9-6) played well all year primarily in the No. 5/6 position for the Quakers, and Lemmon (8-7) grew into his role on the team, playing well for Penn, anywhere from the sixth to the ninth position.
Frank (7-8) and Fazelbhoy (7-8) finished with the same overall individual records playing in the heart of Penn’s ladder in the No. 3 and No. 4 positions.
The six individuals is the most the Penn men's team has sent to the individual championships since 2010.
The CSA individual championships take place Feb. 28-March 2, with the primary host site being Drexel, with Penn’s Ringe Courts serving as the secondary host site. Play begins at 9 a.m. each day and admission is free.
