PHILADELPHIA – After starting the season by defeating Williams College and George Washington, the 13th-ranked University of Pennsylvania men’s squash team returns from a weeklong break to take on No. 15 Navy (9-0) Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in Annapolis, Md.

In Penn’s longest ongoing matchup outside of its Ivy opponents, the Quakers (2-0) lead the overall series against the Midshipmen 43-26. Penn has come away with a victory the last 13 times the two schools have met, winning in 2012, 8-1. The Quakers last loss in the series came in January 2001. The men’s team is looking to start its season 3-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season.

Penn (2-0) has seven players in its ladder who have started their season 2-0, led by captains John Dudzik and Jack Maine. Senior Derek Chilvers, junior Mitch Mutscheller and Maine have yet to drop a game and have been key in getting Penn off to a fast start in matches, playing in the No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7 positions for the Red and Blue.

The Quakers’ ladder has also seen an early-season boost with freshman Rahil Fazelbhoy starting 2-0 in the No. 3 position.

Navy is returning to action for the first time since Nov. 24, the last time Penn played as well. The Midshipmen have recorded six 9-0 victories already this season.
