Men's Squash Shuts Down Midshipmen, 9-0

PHILADELPHIA – Returning home for their first home match in nearly two months, the University of Pennsylvania men’s squash team defeated Navy, 9-0, Wednesday evening at Ringe Courts. Penn (4-0) used strong play from top to bottom to hand the Midshipmen (10-3) just their third loss of the season.

Gilly Lane picked up an impressive win at No. 1, beating Tucker George, 3-0 (9-1, 9-2, 9-2). Graham Bassett also picked up a 3-0 victory, downing Ben Mantica, 9-2, 9-0, 9-3 at the No. 6 position.

The tightest match of the night came at No. 7. Despite winning, 3-0, Christopher Thompson and Christopher Zipf played a closely contested first game, but Thompson prevailed, 9-7.

Overall, Penn won eight matches by a 3-0 count.

The Quakers remain home, hosting Amherst at 11 a.m. and Williams at 4 p.m. Saturday.
