Men's Squash Sweeps St. Lawrence in First Round of Team Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - In the first round of the College Squash Association Team Championships, Penn had no problem with No. 16 ranked St. Lawrence, topping the Saints 9-0. The top-seeded Quakers move on to the semifinal of the Hoehn Cup, and will face either Navy or Franklin and Marshall at noon tomorrow on Yale's courts.

"I am really pleased with how everyone played today," said Coach Craig Thorpe-Clark. "It doesn't matter who we play tomorrow, I just hope we play well and have another good match."

Penn earned 3-0 wins from seasoned upperclassmen senior Mark Froot and juniors William Browne, Porter Drake, and James Clark.

Competing in the No. 1 position, freshman Dan Greenberg held off St. Lawrence's Scott Phillips 3-1, while Brooks Russell, Trevor McGuinness, and Akhilesh Nayak also won in four games.

Freshman Zuhaib Mohiuddincame back from being down a game to give Penn the sweep after a five-game battle with Nick Pearson.

Heading into tomorrow, the Quakers already own wins over both Navy and Franklin and Marshall this season. The Quakers topped Navy 6-3 on Jan. 13 and Franklin and Marshall 8-1 on Dec. 2.
