Men's Squash to Host Navy

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 7 Penn men’s squash team is set to host No. 12 Navy on Thursday evening at the Ringe Squash Courts. This will be the Quakers’ third match of the season and their final at home before the New Year.

The Red and Blue are currently 1-1 after defeating Middlebury 8-1, but falling to No.6 Cornell, 1-8, in Penn’s opening weekend. Andrew Zimmerman won both of his matches at the No.5 and No. 6 positions.

Last season, the Quakers routed the Midshipmen, 7-2, in Annapolis, Md. In last year’s match-up, Joey Raho earned a 3-1 decision at No. 6 and the Quakers then quickly packed the match away when No. 8 Parker Justi, No. 5 Porter Drake, and No. 2 Mark Froot all claimed victories.

The Midshipmen are deep into their season as the team has been playing matches since mid-October. Navy is currently 17-1, with its sole loss at No. 8 Dartmouth, 9-0. Most recently, the Midshipmen defeated Conn. College, 8-1.

Following Thursday’s home match, the Red and Blue are headed to New England to play a pair of matches. First, the No. 3 Yale Bulldogs will be waiting in New Haven, Conn. to host the Quakers on Saturday at noon and then Penn will travel to Providence, R.I. on Sunday to play Brown at 1 p.m.
