PHILADELPHIA -Taking on the fourth-ranked team in the nation, the University of Pennsylvania men's squash team earned their first win over a higher ranked opponent in the 2015-16 season, defeating Rochester, 6-3.
The Quakers split the first four matches of the day, with wins from Karim Hussein and Jonathan Zeitels. Hussein cruised to a 3-0 win in the second spot on the ladder and Zeitels worked his way to a 3-2 win in the eighth slot.
In the second round of matches, George Lemmon and Hayes Murphy put Penn in a great position with impressive 3-0 wins, bringing them within one win of the upset.
The final two matches would go five games, with Tyler Odell and Max Reed both having to come back from 2-1 deficits. Reed would get the job done first, outworking his opponent in 11-3 and 11-6 fashion to clinch the win for the Quakers.
Not to be outdone, Odell battled his way through the final two games winning 17-15 and 16-14 and securing the 6-3 result.
Penn is back at it again with another pair of quality opponents. They will take on No. 3 St. Lawrence and Williams beginning at 1 p.m. at the Ringe Courts.
