Men's Squash Wins Two Key Matches at Amherst, Williams

AMHERST, Mass. - The No. 6 University of Pennsylvania men's squash team enjoyed an emphatic 2-0 Saturday with a pair of 9-0 wins. The Quakers started the day with a win over No. 11 Amherst before travelling across Massachusetts to best No.10 Williams.

"This was a very competitive match, and despite the scoreline was an extremely tough battle," said Head Coach Craig Thorpe-Clark of the Williams match."It was one of the best team wins we've had in the past few seasons."

Penn (6-2) downed the Jeffs (4-2) in the day's first match, 9-0, before heading into a tough match with Williams (3-5)in the evening. The Ephs gave Penn all they could handle, including several dramatic 10-point games. Freshman Andrew Zimmerman etched out a 3-0 (10-9, 10-9, 9-6) win while Graham Bassett endured for a 3-1 (9-6, 10-9, 8-10, 9-5) victory to push his season record to 8-0.

Penn returns to action on Jan. 27 at Ringe Squash Courts when it hosts defending national champion Trinity at 7 p.m.
