Men's Swimming in Second, Women in Fourth After Day Two at Nike Invite

GAMBIER, Ohio – Day two of the Nike Invitational has ended and the men’s team is in second place (763.5), just four points behind the leaders from Kenyon. The women fell a few spots to third place behind Kansas and Kenyon.

In the men’s events it was the Quakers and the host Lords that consistently took the top spots. In the men’s 200 freestyle relay, Penn took second (1:22.08) and fifth (1:23.08). Jack Wiese swam to a first place finish in the 200 fly (1:50.92), while teammate Kyle Yeager placed third (1:50.30). Brendan McHugh placed second in the 100 breastroke (55.70), while Brad Farris took third in the 100 backstroke (51.38).

McHugh also took first and broke a Kenyon pool record in the 400 IM (3:57.42) – over two seconds faster than Kenyon’s Nathaniel Smith who swam into a second place finish.

In the women’s events, Kansas dominated all events giving the Jayhawks a commanding lead over all other teams. Carey Stauder placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:28.59), while Laura Klick took a fifth place finish in the 100 breastroke (1:04.40).

The invitational will finish on Saturday evening.
