Men's Swimming Opens Strong at Kenyon

Kenyon, Ohio - The Quakers got a first place finish from sophomore Stephen Carroll and took a large lead after two events in the first day at the Total Performance Invitational at Kenyon College.

Carroll won the 1,650-yard freestyle in 15:41.40, ten seconds faster than the second place finisher from Kenyon. Sophomore Ryan Littlefield (16:04.78) came in fifth in the event while junior Cameron Hood (16:06.57), freshman Paul Hartmeier (16:09.60) and freshman William Hartje (6:17.90) placed sixth, seventh and tenth respectively.

In the only other event of the day, Penn finished third in the 800-yard free relay. The Quaker four-some of junior Brendan McHugh, Carroll, junior Robert Shilton and freshman Rhoads Worster finished in 6:47.06. Penn also took fourth in the event as well.

The Red and Blue sit in first with 189 points after two events and Wayne State is in second with 76 while Colgate is in third with 50. Penn goes back to the pool Friday morning for day two of the three-day meet.
