Men's Swimming Places Second, Women Take Fourth at Nike Invitational

Day Three Results

GAMBIER, Ohio – The Penn men’s and women’s swim teams finished their last day the Nike Invitational on Saturday night. The men’s team finished 2nd overall in the team ranking (1,395.5 points), while Kenyon was able to edge Penn with a few first place finished to take first. In the women’s team ranking, the Quakers placed fourth place (663.5), while the dominate women’s team from Kansas cruised into first place.

On the final day, Brendan McHugh set a pair of Kenyon pool records, while Stephanie Nerby and James Fee each set their own. McHugh swam to first place finishes and pool records in the 200 breastroke (2:00.50) and 200 IM (1:50.68). In the 200 breastroke, McHugh was four seconds faster than the rest of the heat. Nerby (4:54.33) and Fee (4:25.50) both set pool records in the 500 freestyle.

The Quakers are back in the pool when they head to Florida for the Florida Atlantic Invitational in early January. During the meet, one of the teams the Red and Blue will face is Ivy foe Brown.
