Men's Swimming Travels to La Salle Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA - The Quakers get little rest when they travel to La Salle on Tuesday, just four days after swimming in their final home meet of the season. Swimming is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The Red and Blue cruised to a 170-105 victory over DII West Chester on Friday after winning each of the meet's first 12 events. Junior Brendan McHugh was the only Quaker to win multiple events, taking top honors in both the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke events. McHugh also set new Sheerr pool records in the 100 (55.18) and the 200 (2:01.78).

Junior Jeff Cragg won the 1-meter diving event with a score 293.55 while classmate Peter Amos and senior Mike Tompkins both recorded victories. Amos won the 50-yard free in 21.27 while Tompkins took the 200-yard butterfly in 1:56.88.

Penn's battle against La Salle expects to be more difficult, as the Explorers boast a more potent roster, despite their tight 152.5-147.5 loss to Loyola (MD) on Saturday. In the meet, La Salle won eight different events, including both diving events. Robert Freeling won the 1-meter with 277.88 points while Jordran Baker took the 3-meter, 323.18. Balse Szyzko also won the 100-yard breast in 58.98 and Austin Thomas took the 50 (21.17) and 100-yard (47.36) freestyle events.

Last year the Quakers won 173-122 taking first in 11 of the meet's 16 events.
