Men's Team Pushes Fencing up to Ninth Place at NCAA Championships

HOUSTON, TEXAS - After the first day of men's competition at the NCAA Fencing Championships, the Univeristy of Pennsylvania is in a ninth-place tie with Northwestern. Both schools have 56 totalvictories through three days.

Ron Berkowskyis in third place in the foil with 12 victories. He trails Ohio State's Andras Horanyi and Boaz Ellis who each have 13 victories. Last year Berkwosky won the bronze medal in the foil. Weapommate Michael Galligan is in 17th place with five victories.

Penn's only other competitor, Matthew Kolasa, placed 20th in the saber with four victories.

Sunday is the final round of competition with action getting underway at 9 a.m.
