PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team will begin its fall campaign by hosting the fourth annual Penn Invitational this weekend at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers. The annual three-day event, which will begin on Friday morning, will feature eight singles flights and four doubles flights.

Teams competing this year include Buffalo, Columbia, Georgetown, Old Dominion, Princeton, St. John’s, VCU, William & Mary and Yale. Play will begin each day at 9 a.m. and will wrap up on Sunday afternoon.

"The Penn Invitational is a great way to kick off the season,” said Penn Head Coach David Geatz. “We will be hosting an extremely strong field, which should give us the opportunity to see exactly where we stand and what we need to work on.”

The Quakers put together a strong showing at last year’s invitational, racking up 29 wins over the course of three days. Individually, senior Josh Pompan and junior Thomas Spratt each compiled undefeated records in singles – going a combined 6-0 against tough competition. Spratt also teamed up with senior Austin Kaplan to register a 3-1 mark in doubles.
