Men's Tennis Breezes Past Army, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA – In the final match before the start of Ivy League play, the University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team defeated Army 6-1 at Lott Courts on Monday. Penn now runs its winning streak to nine straight matches as they head into Ancient Eight play.

The Quakers were too much for Army in doubles. Penn swept the point winning all three matches. Jason Pinsky and Joseph Lok defeated John Houghton and Kevin Harris 8-1. Mikhail Bekker and Jonathan Boym downed Eddie Kang and Michael Good 8-2. Justin Fox and Brandon O'Gara beat Phil Muhawi and Sean Harris 8-2 at the No. 3 position.

In singles, the Red and Blue continued to feed off the momentum they had from doubles. Of the five matches Penn won, four were in straight sets. Boym, Lok, Fox, Jimmy Fairbanks and O’Gara helped Penn to victory by winning their matches.

The Quakers improve to 12-4 overall as they prepare for Ivy League play for the remainder of the season. Penn hosts Princeton on Friday, March 31 at 2 p.m. in the league opener.
