Men's Tennis Defeats Dartmouth, 5-2

Philadelphia- The University of Pennsylvania men’s tennis team defeated Dartmouth, 5-2, on Saturday on the Lott Tennis Courts.

The Quakers (14-6, 2-3 Ivy) opened the match by taking the doubles point. The team of David Lynn and Mikhail Bekker defeated David Webb and Andres Reyes, 8-2, in the No. 1 position. At No. 2 doubles, Tas Tobias and Anthony Pu fell to David Waslen and Steven McGaughey, 8-4. Penn captured the doubles point with Brandon O’Gara and Todd Lecher’s 9-8 (8) victory at No. 3 over Mark Brodie and Jeffrey Schechtman.

To open singles, Lynn fell in the No. 2 position, 6-1, 6-2, to Waslen. Bekker then gave Penn the 2-1 advantage with his 6-3, 6-3 victory over Webb in the No. 1 spot. Lecher took the No. 4 match, 6-2, 6-3, over Schectman and Joseph Lok clinched the match for the Quakers with a 7-5, 6-4, victory over Priya Sahu at No. 6. Tobias defeated Brodie, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 3 and Jimmy Fairbanks fell to Reyes, 6-7(7), 6-3, 1-0(10-6), at No. 5 to close out the match.

The Quakers are next in action on Friday, April 22 when they host Cornell on the Lott Tennis Courts at 2 p.m.
