Men's Tennis Defeats Maryland, 5-2

College Park, Md. -- The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team defeated Maryland, 5-2, on Sunday. The Quakers lost the doubles point but came back to take the final five singles matches in the win.

The team ofJustin Lavner and Tas Tobiasfell at No. 1 doubles, 8-4, andDavid Lynn and Mikhail Bekkerdropped a tough match, 9-8(7-6) at No. 2 doubles. Craig Rubin and Todd Lecher teamed to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-6.

The Quakers (6-0)cameback strong in the singles. Lynn fell at the No. 1 position, 6-2, 6-2, to Ian Bliss. The Red and Blue then won the next five matches to take the match. Bekker defeated Troy Demers at No. 2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, Lavner won at No. 3, 7-6, 7-3, 2-6, 6-1, over Scott Fink while at No. 4, Tobias defeated Ben Graham, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2. Lecher then won at No. 5, 6-3, 7-6, over David Reichseld and Rubin closed out the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Josh Brauser.

The Quakers are next in action onWednesday, Feb. 23, when they host Rutgers in the Levy Tennis Pavilion at 4 p.m.
