New York, N.Y. - The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team closed out its season with a 5-2 loss at Columbia on Sunday afternoon.
The Quakers opened the match by dropping the doubles point. Mikhail Bekker and David Lynn fell to Akshay Rao and Scott Robin, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles and Todd Lecher and Brandon O'Gara fell to Jimmy Moore and Martin Moore, 8-6, in the second position. Joseph Lok and Anthony Pu fell at No. 3, 8-1, to Vinay Bhamidipati and Jared Drucker.
To open singles play, David Lynn fell to Rao, 7-5, 6-1, in the first position. Bekker collected the Quakers first point of the day with a 6-4, 6-1, victory over Jimmy Moore at No. 2 while Lecher fell to Rajeev Emany, 6-4, 6-1, in the third position. Tas Tobias collected Penn's other point with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, victory over Mark Clemente at No. 4. In the fifth spot, Jimmy Fairbanks fell to Drucker, 6-1, 7-5. Lok fell to Martin Moore, 7-5, 6-7, 1-0 (16-14) in the sixth position to close out the match.
Penn finishes the season with a 14-8 overall record and a 2-5 mark in Ivy League play.
